We’ve been unreal all season and should be proud - Busquets

Sergio Busquets refused to be too downhearted on Sunday night despite seeing his team lose their unbeaten streak at Levante.

Barcelona went down 5-4 in a pretty crazy game that put an end to their ambitions of completing an Invincible season.

Ernesto Valverde’s side have still completed a league and cup double and Busquets seems pretty happy with their campaign.

“It’s obvious that we wanted to finish this season unbeaten but everything that we’ve done up until now was of merit,” he told reporters.

“It’s a shame that we’ve lost. They caught us on the counter attack and were quick. We made little lapses of concentration and it’s really difficult when you have to overturn a lead like 5-1.

“We were pushing, we were working, we used lots of energy. We had chances to draw but it wasn’t our night, it wasn’t to be. When you chuck away five goals it’s hard to haul it back.

“Our performances have been absolutely unreal all season. We should be proud of it and we’re still proud of it.

“We’ve got one more game. We’ll celebrate the title at Camp Nou with our fans.”

It’s been a really strange campaign with the club’s achievements having been almost overshadowed by the Champions League exit at the hands of Roma.

An unbeaten La Liga campaign would have been a real accomplishment but it simply wasn’t to be and Barcelona now sign off against Real Socieded at the Camp Nou on Sunday.
