Valverde: F**k what a Clasico!

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde is usually pretty cool in his press conferences but even he seemed affected by Sunday’s 2-2 Clasico draw with Real Madrid at the Camp Nou.

It was an eventful match with Luis Suarez firing Barcelona ahead only for Cristiano Ronaldo to equalise. Barcelona had Sergi Roberto sent off just before half-time but then went ahead through Lionel Messi.

Real Madrid saw Gareth Bale get away with a pretty awful challenge on Samuel Umtiti before the Welshman equalised and tempers flared throughout the match from both sets of players despite there being little riding on the result.

Valverde summed it up pretty well though:

The Barcelona boss also spoke about the game and praised his side for their performance in the second half after they were down to 10 men.

“In a game like this, there will always be tension. It was intense from the first minute,” he said.

“We all want to beat our rivals. The goals came fast and then it became difficult with all the cards.

“In the second half, we fought so that the man disadvantage wasn’t felt. We didn’t stop attacking. We had to work together a lot and never give up in attack.”

It was a pretty feisty game and Barcelona were up against it after Roberto was sent off but still managed to preserve their unbeaten run.
