Ramos accuses Messi of pressuring the referee in El Clasico

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos couldn’t resist a pop at Lionel Messi after Sunday’s El Clasico draw at the Camp Nou.

The defender reckons Messi was putting pressure on referee Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez during half-time with the score at 1-1 and the hosts a man down after Sergi Roberto had been sent off.

“Messi put pressure on the referee in the tunnel at half time,” he said.

“I don’t know if there were cameras, and I don’t know if he would have made other decisions in the second half.

“However, it’s important to leave these things on the pitch, you have to show respect.”

It was a tough night for the referee who sent Roberto off but allowed Gareth Bale to stay on the pitch despite an awful challenge on Samuel Umtiti when he planted his studs on his calf.

There were plenty of other decisions which will have riled both teams, Luis Suarez appeared to foul Raphael Varane in the build-up to Barcelona’s second goal.

Suarez also had a goal chalked off for offside while Real Madrid will have wanted a penalty after Marcelo went down after a challenge with Jordi Alba.
