Iniesta offered player-coach role at Man City

The speculation surrounding Andres Iniesta’s future has taken a fresh twist today with a report that he is considering a player-coach role at Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta is expected to leave his post on the Premier League champions’ coaching staff to take up the position as Arsenal manager. Should he depart City will need a replacement and that’s where Iniesta comes in, according to Yahoo Sport.

They reckon that City have already been in touch with Iniesta and he is ‘keen on a deal’ and has ‘had his head turned’ by Guardiola’s club.

Iniesta has previously said he was choosing between offers from China and Japan but it appears that he could be enticed to England to work with Pep.

City announced just yesterday that Guardiola had signed a two-year contract extension at the club that will keep him at the Etihad until 2021.

When Iniesta announced he would be leaving at the end of the season he claimed he would not move to another club in Europe because he didn’t want to play against Barcelona.

The midfielder has also spoken recently about how he quite fancies a coaching career when he finally retires and it seems City may have made an offer that’s given him plenty to think about.
