Barcelona lose appeal against Sergi Roberto’s Clasico red card

Barcelona have seen their appeal against Sergi Roberto’s red card in the 2-2 draw with Real Madrid turned down.

The full-back was hit with a four-game ban after a clash with Marcelo which seemed incredibly harsh and more than a little unfair.

Sergi has already missed two games because of the ban, against Villarreal and Levante, but will now have to sit out two more after the Appeals Committee dismissed Barca’s appeal.

That means that Roberto will once again be on the sidelines against Real Sociedad and will also miss the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla next season.

Barcelona can appeal to the TAD (Spain’s Court of Arbitration for Sport) which they did last season when Neymar was banned from the Clasico.

We all know how that ended up so there’s no guarantee Barcelona will try, but if they want to they have 15 days to appeal to the TAD.
