Valverde gives update on Messi injury after Man Utd win
The captain was caught in the face by Chris Smalling
Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde offered an update on Lionel Messi after Wednesday’s Champions League win over Manchester United.
The captain was left covered in blood after getting a whack in the face from Chris Smalling, with report suggesting he may have broken his nose.
Valverde said they will check on Messi tomorrow to see what kind of shape he’s in.
“Messi wasn’t so comfortable after the blow,” he said.
”We have to examine him tomorrow to see how he is.
”He was strong, but he has quite a significant bruise.”

Messi required treatment on the pitch to stop the bleeding and was able to continue, however it was an unusually subdued performance from the GOAT at Old Trafford.
