Griezmann apologises as wait for a decision continues

Antoine Griezmann has risked the wrath of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid fans after refusing to announce a decision on his future at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Frenchman was widely expected to either say he would be staying or announce he was leaving but instead did neither.

“I am very sorry, but today I am not going to give my decision, I know many were waiting for it, but today is not the day.”

So what does it all mean? It’s difficult to say, but if he did want to stay at Atletico Madrid it’s hard to understand why he doesn’t just come out and say it.

Is he simply stalling because he’s waiting for some kind of an agreement between Barcelona and Atletico? Has he genuinely not made up his mind? Does anyone care any more?

Who knows, but he has previously promised a decision “before the World Cup” and more recently “this week,” the sooner the better.
