Eriksen’s agent says several clubs interested in Spurs star

The rumors surrounding Christian Eriksen are refusing to die down at the moment and his agent, Martin Schoots, has now entered the fray.

Barcelona have been linked with the Denmark international, but so too have Real Madrid in recent days and his agent admits he is a wanted man.

“The only thing I can say is that concerning the interest of several clubs in Christian is that we prefer not to comment.

Christian wants to focus completely on the World Cup - just as he did before on qualifying for the Champions League with Spurs.

”But becoming a father for the first time very soon, there is even something bigger at the moment he is giving his attention to.”

Of course there’s no sense that Eriksen is unhappy at Spurs or wants to leave, and the Premier League side are renowned for being tough negotiators.

Yet it promises to be an interesting summer for the north London club particularly as manager Mauricio Pochettino has just signed a new deal but is reportedly wanted by Real Madrid to replace Zinedine Zidane.

Pochettino spoke at the end of last season about how the club “needs to be brave and take risks”, which was largely interpreted as a call to Spurs to invest in the squad if they are to challenge for honours.

The club are due to move into their new stadium at the start of next season so it remains to be seen how much budget they have available to spend. Key players such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eriksen may also attract interest too if they star at the World Cup.
