Messi: I like Griezmann because he’s one of the best

Lionel Messi appears to have given Barcelona’s pursuit of Antoine Griezmann his blessing after Sunday’s win over Real Sociedad.

Barcelona have been linked with Griezmann for some time now with the latest reports all claiming a deal for the Frenchman is close.

And perhaps unsurprisingly Messi was asked for his opinion on Griezmann after Barcelona’s final match of the season.

“It’s obvious that I like him. He’s one of the best players in the world right now. I don’t know if there’s any real interest, but we’re delighted if the best players come and Griezmann is one of the best.”

Griezmann signed off for Atletico in their 2-2 draw with Eibar on Sunday. He came on as a sub in the second half and AS reported some fans whistled him when he appeared.
