Godin told Atletico fans to stop whistling Griezmann because he’s staying

The speculation over Antoine Griezmann’s future is really ramping up with the latest reports claiming Diego Godin told Atletico fans to stop whistling the Frenchman because he’s staying.

Griezmann appeared to get upset during Sunday’s final La Liga game as he was whistled by some supporters after he came on in the second half.

A little video by Spanish TV programme El Dia Despues shows footage of Godin consoling Griezmann then going over to speak directly to supporters.

Have a look for yourselves:

Godin’s words seemed to do the trick although it remains to be seen what Griezmann made of it all.

Manager Diego Simeone tried to play down the supporters’ actions after the game.

“They whistled 50 or 40 out of 60,000. The support for him was enormous,” he said.

”We know that if he continues we will be much more competitive. I hope he solves what he believes is best for his growth, but in the club he has unconditional support.”

As it stands it seems there are conflicting reports about Griezmann floating around. Some claim he’s been convinced to stay, and others that he could be presented as a Barcelona player as early as next week.

It still seems likely that Griezmann will be leaving Atletico this summer, but certainly there does appear to be an element of doubt about the move now.
