Zidane says Real Madrid won’t give Barcelona guard of honour ‘it’s my decision’
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has said his team will not give Barcelona a guard of honour if they’ve been crowned champions before the Clasico next month.
Barca need just 15 points to win the league meaning they could have sealed the title by the time Real Madrid head to the Camp Nou on Sunday May 6.
In the past teams have given newly-crowned champions a guard of honour but Zidane doesn’t fancy it one bit.
“We’re not going to do it, that’s it,” he told a pre-match press conference.
“It’s my decision.”
There was a bit of discussion earlier this season over whether Barcelona should have given Real a guard of honour after they won the Club World Cup.
However, Valverde explained that because Barcelona had not competed in the tournament they were not obliged to honour the winners.
