Valverde to play Ter Stegen in central defence?

In order to make themselves more robust in the defensive side of things, Barcelona may begin to deploy Marc-André ter Stegen in central defence.

Ernesto Valverde and Ter Stegen have both spoken this week and made it clear that a move to central defence is coming sooner rather than later.

Abril Primer, one of Valverde’s most trusted sources, revealed his plans:

“Ter Stegen wishes to diversify his skill-set and we also need to gather more depth in that position. The uniqueness of the player makes it possible for this move to happen and it will be key to our success moving forward. It’s good news for Jasper Cillessen too.”

The move from the coach would be a bit strange had it not been for Ter Stegen’s personal glove adviser Hans Güttschtopp also coming out so strongly in favor of the move.

“Frankly, using his hands has just become a bit boring and simplistic for Marc. He wishes to become a more complete footballer and he can’t do that with his hands further impeding his growth. Hopefully moving into defence will assist in that and then who knows? Maybe he could go into midfield or even up front with Messi?”

Happy April Fools!

Stay in goal Ter Stegen.
