Valverde: It feels like we’ve failed & disappointed fans

Ernesto Valverde gave his verdict after overseeing Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Valencia on Saturday.

The Barcelona boss congratulated the players for the win but also spoke about what the atmosphere at the club had been like after the Champions League defeat to Roma.

“The sensation is that we have failed, that we have disappointed the supporters, but we have to look forward and not lose sight of what we can still achieve this season,” he said.

“I’m also happy because of the week we’ve had. The atmosphere around the club this week has been a little gloomy and we needed to put the brakes on that and stand up and be counted.

“In that sense, I have to congratulate the players because it’s not easy after the huge disappointment they had.”

Barcelona now top the table by 14 points with Atletico Madrid not in action until Sunday when they take on Levante at the Wanda Metropolitano.
