Rumors: Lenglet, De Ligt, De Jong, Cillessen, Lemar and Umtiti

Barcelona make contact with Lenglet

Today’s rumours start with Sport who have Clement Lenglet all over their front page as Barcelona have reportedly been in touch over a move to Camp Nou.

Sevilla are keen to keep hold of the defender and want to improve his contract, which would also mean raising his release clause.

Barca have therefore had a quiet word with his representatives to show their interest and hopefully prevent him from signing a new deal

Their interest is unrelated to Samuel Umtiti’s future but more a case of strengthening the defence as Thomas Vermaelen is off in the summer and Ernesto Valverde doesn’t fancy Yerry Mina.

Barca’s plans for next season

Mundo Deportivo have a nice little report concerning Barcelona’s plans for next season, and in particular how they plan to strengthen in a bid to land the Champions League.

Antoine Griezmann is coming in to replace Luis Suarez who has forgotten how to score goals in Europe’s top competition. He’s already said he wants to play for Barca apparently.

Arthur is going to be the new Xavi although confusingly the report also says the plan is for him to come in during January.

And then there’s Ajax duo Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong who Barca are super keen on and want to get some kind of agreement to sign them either this summer or next.

Cillessen wanted by Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Napoli

Staying with MD and they also report that Jasper Cillessen is a wanted man with Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Napoli all keen on Barca’s back-up goalkeeper.

Cillessen is pretty happy at Barcelona but he could be tempted away by the promise of regular football as he knows it will be tough to oust Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Lemar on the market

Not so long ago Barcelona were being linked with a move to Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and you can probably expect those stories to come back with a vengeance this summer.

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasiley has given clubs who are interested in the Frenchman some hope. “Good luck to those who want him. He’s worth a lot,” he told Telefoot.

Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal were heavily linked with the 22-year-old in the last couple of transfer windows and he’’ll probably generate plenty of interest once again.

New Umtiti talks

And finally today we end with news that Barcelona have once again been in touch with Samuel Umtiti’s representatives about a new deal, so say Mundo Deportivo.

The contract is apparently a priority and Barcelona are said to be optimistic but there is still a long way to go.

Umtiti for his part does not want to leave Camp Nou but is also determined to get a good deal. Something has to give.
