Lenglet can ‘definitely’ play for Barca in the future, says Montella

Sevilla boss Vincenzo Montella has responded to speculation about Barcelona potentially moving for centre-back Clement Lenglet.

The defender has been splashed all over Sport today with the report claiming Barcelona have already been in touch with his representatives over a move.

Montella reckons that Lenglet is certainly good enough to play for Barcelona, just not yet.

“He is a champion with a strong mentality and in the future he can definitely play for Barcelona,” he said.

Barcelona have been linked with loads of defenders recently which suggests Thomas Vermaelen may depart come the summer.

The Belgian has done pretty well this season when called upon but has spoken previously about his frustration at not playing more regularly.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will come up against Lenglet on Saturday when they face Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final at the Wanda Metropolitano.
