Roberto: Alena should be the example for Riqui Puig

The midfielder should follow in his footsteps

Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto came out and defended the Barcelona academy this week.

Specifically, Sergi talked about one of the club’s most talented youngsters, Riqui Puig, and how important the 19-year-old is to the club.

“Maybe he’s the one talked about the most [in the academy], yes. When he plays, you see different things, little details.

”Maybe the example for him to follow is [Carles] Aleña, a player that’s now in the first team.

“It’s important that these type of players come up and if they can stay with us, even better. It’s important that there are as many players as possible from the academy.”

Alena has made the step up to the first team in the current campaign and it’s possible Puig could follow in his footsteps next season.
