Barça squad named for United 2nd leg
Ernesto Valverde has called up 18 players for Tuesday’s quarterfinal decider
The next Barcelona match is upon us! The Blaugrana welcome Manchester United to Camp Nou for the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie, and Ernesto Valverde has called up the following 18 players to be in uniform on Tuesday night:
Goalkeepers: 1. Marc-André ter Stegen, 13. Jasper Cillessen
Defenders: 2. Nélson Semedo, 3. Gerard Piqué, 15. Clément Lenglet, 18. Jordi Alba, 23. Samuel Umtiti
Midfielders: 4. Ivan Rakitic, 5. Sergio Busquets, 7. Philippe Coutinho, 8. Arthur, 20. Sergi Roberto, 22. Arturo Vidal, 26. Carles Aleñá
Forwards: 9. Luis Suárez, 10. Lionel Messi, 11. Ousmane Dembélé, 14. Malcom
There’s some very good news here: Rakitic (fever) and Sergi Roberto (muscle) have been cleared by the medical staff after missing the trip to Huesca at the weekend, meaning the only ones who can’t play due to injury are the usual: Rafinha (knee) and Thomas Vermaelen (Vermaelen). Jean-Clair Todibo, Jeison Murillo and Kevin-Prince Boateng are out per the manager’s decision and will watch from the stands.
Predicted starting XI (4-3-3):
Ter Stegen; Semedo, Piqué, Lenglet, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Arthur; Messi, Suárez, Coutinho
The match kicks off at 9pm CET, 8pm BST/WAT (UK & Nigeria), 3pm ET, 12pm PT (USA), 12.30am IST (India, Wednesday), and you can join us to follow and comment all the action in our live blog.
