Tebas thinks Griezmann will stay at Atletico

La Liga president Javier Tebas has had his say on the whole Antoine Griezmann saga and thinks the forward will stay at Atletico Madrid.

Griezmann has promised an announcement this week on whether he will stay where he is or move to Barcelona in July when the club plan to activate his release clause.

Tebas also reckons Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at Real Madrid with the Portugal international seemingly in the midst of his annual strop.

“I think Cristiano stays at Real Madrid and Antoine Griezmann stays at Atletico,” he said.

“Cristiano Ronaldo leaving, out of 10, I’m worried about a five or a four,.

”It wouldn’t be so dramatic for the league. We are becoming more independent of great players.”

The president also said next season’s second Clasico will be brought forward and explained why. He added: “This next season, the Clásico will be played sooner. It was not ideal to play with nothing at stake.”

Barcelona had already wrapped up La Liga by the time Real Madrid turned up at the Camp Nou on 6 May, which probably wasn’t much fun for Tebas to watch as he’s openly admitted he’s a Madrid fan.

There may have been little to play for but there was still plenty of incident with Madrid refusing to give Barcelona a pasillo, Sergi Roberto sent off after a clash with Marcelo and the teams sharing four goals in a 2-2 draw.
